I can only download from Microsoft Download Center, if I use one or the other, Telephone or a DSL connection?

I tried this several times. First I do this:


I erase my whole hard drive. Next I reinstall my Windows Software.


I add all the updates to the Antivirus and Spyware and Firewall Software, I installed, with all the Windows Updates, I installed with my Cox Cable connection with my Cable Modem. How do I remove this exploit, no antispyware will remove it, I can block atdmt.com with my router, yet it does not stop this exploit.





I can download many things from the internet with my Cable Modem, I can download from Microsoft Download Center, always the same.





Cox Cable with my cable modem will not download Microsoft Download Center. If I watch what it tries to do, I see http://switch.atdmt.com/action/..., then there is a stall, next Internet Explorer 6 or 7 or Firefox, or some other, I get error, dns error, and writes, can not find server.





If I use the DSL connection, with a wireless, then switch to Cable, by using a wireless connection, I can download from Cable for several minute

but if you went thru all that trouble of instaling windows all over again


and ran Internet Explorer, well that's your own fault, not Cox, run Firefox instead, also you do not mention what firewall you are using ( prefrable a router ), what anti adware or spyware software you are using... i ma suspecting it's not spybot and adaware and AVG free for the virus protection.

Torrent download acting weird?

I'm using BitComet to download a certain 3GB file. Now I have reached 99.7% and it is taking absolute ages to complete the download. The weird thing is that it did not stop downloading or that it can't find any seeders. To the contrary, it is claiming to be downloading at 100kB/s and it is estimating that the download will be finished in 2 minutes however it has been "faking it" like this for a good two days now (took 2 days to go from 99.6% to 99.7%). Does anyone have a clue what is happening?

not completely sure, but i have heard that sometimes fake copies of the "file" you are downloading are place on torrent websites, possibly by the MPAA or other organizations to discourage attempts to download pirated versions of this "file"... no need to worry. although it's a big bummer that you're download is crawling.... chances are that if the file actually finished, you would be left with a no video, or corrupted audio or malfunctioning software or something. baiscally even if the file finished downloading it is unlikely it would actually work. maybe search around for a similar copy. try using www.btjunkie.org to locate torrents. hope this helps...

Not able to download/install flash player?

i use yahoo 7 and windows 98, though i already have some version of the flash player installed , i am not able to use yahoo audibles or play yahoo games, whenever i do so it says…plz install the latest version of flash player. when i goto the macromedia website its says sorry no flash player found compatible to your platform or browser(i use netscape 7.2) and then when i go to the table and match the platform, browser, etc…and start the download , it gets added to my download manager but does not start the download, instaed says the download has finished, upon launching the file it says download failed. i tried the same through Interner explorer(version 6) yet the problem remains.i also use internet download manager and faced the same problems with it too while downloading.i have no proxy or firewall.and my internet speed is 32 kbps broadband.I use netscape 7.2 as my defaul browser, plus i have IE version 6 and firefox version 2. and the same problem persists with firefox too.

I had this problem for months and was recently able to address the problem with the help of an adobe forum entry. Please try this and let me know how it goes. You may need a geek friend to assist. It's technical, but it's not that hard to do.





For the past 2 day's I have tried just about every solution posted in this forum. I believe I have found a solution that just might work for a large percentage of the viewers. I can't remember whose instructions these were. I copied and pasted and then proceeded as instructed.





Step 1.


Using the SubInAcL tool from Microsoft to fix permission issues in the registry has solved installation errors for several products including Flash Player.


The following solution involves the Windows System Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can result in serious system damage which may require reinstallation of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this information.





You must have administrator privileges to successfully complete these instructions.


1. Follow the instructions to download and install the subinacl tool from Microsoft here.


2. Use a text editor to create a file and name it reset.cmd. Save the reset.cmd in C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools folder.


3. Copy and paste the following content into the reset.cmd file. Then save and close the file.

7. After a few minutes processing subinacl, the permissions will be reset.


8. Install the Flash Player from here: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer


9. Test the Flash Player here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome

I took GOLLUX's advice and went to Q313222 from Microsoft and followed this instruction:





To reset your operating system back to original installation default security settings: 1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then press ENTER.


2. Type secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose, and then press ENTER. You receive a "Task is completed" message, and a warning message that something could not be done. You can safely ignore this message. For more information about this message, view the %windir%\Security\Logs\Scesrv.log file.
